Parks to Bring Your Dogs to in FrederickYou’re not the only one in your household who loves to run and play outside. Your dog also enjoys getting out and exploring the great outdoors. The next time you and your pooch are feeling a little cooped up inside, jump in the car and check out one of these great dog parks in and around Prince Frederick.

1. Ballenger Creek Dog Park

The 4-acre dog park at Ballenger Creek Park just outside of Prince Frederick is perfect for big and little dogs. When you arrive, you’ll find two separate fenced and gated play areas for small and large dogs, as well as trails, walkways, benches, and water. While you can bring outside toys, Ballenger Creek Dog Park only permits tennis balls and flying discs. Additionally, every dog must have current vaccinations and wear a visible identification and vaccination tags.

2. One Loudoun Dog Park

While One Loudoun in Ashburn, Virginia, is known for its great mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment, a lot of people don’t realize there’s also a dog park that’s ideal for canines of all sizes. One Loudoun Dog Park has a fenced area with plenty of shady trees that provide a nice spot to relax on a warm day. There’s great space for dogs to run around as you enjoy watching from a bench or swing. The dog park even provides some dog toys and doggie bags, although you’re encouraged to bring your own water.

3. Baker Park

Baker Park is a 58-acre park situated just outside of downtown Prince Frederick. Inside the park you’ll find a fenced dog park where your pup can run and play. The dog park is only open to dogs older than 4 months of age, and all canines must have a valid license and current rabies tag to enter. You need to get a City of Prince Frederick Parks Department dog park usage tag before you can go in, and your dog must wear this tag at all times while in the dog park.

4. Ridge Road Recreational Dog Park

Head out to Ridge Road Recreational Park in Germantown, Maryland, to find the Ridge Road Recreational Dog Park. This dog exercise area is around a half-acre in size and enclosed with a 6-foot high chain link fence. While your dog must stay on a leash when entering and exiting the park, once he’s inside he’s free to run and play with his other furry friends.

5. Black Hill Regional Park

Also situated in Germantown, Black Hill Regional Park has a dog park that’s ideal for pups of all sizes. While your dog will love the chance to run around the half-acre fenced-in dog park, you’ll appreciate the shady trees and picnic tables that create a perfect spot to relax. To enter, dogs must be older than 4 months and must display current rabies vaccination tags and licenses.
